Growing out of a collaboration with Magdalena Collectief, Salt for Magdalene is a fictional soundtrack for a play that doesn’t exist. It’s a sonic journey into a world of endless rebirth, a speculative fantasy where bodies collide, collapse, coalesce; where the sacral regalia of our past become the symbolic vessels of a new cosmology, spreading its excesses via the lush electronics of HOFFMAN’s tracks.
The end product consists of nine tracks, combining dreamy synths with industial club music and snarling breakbeats. With text from the play, narrated by the members of Magdalena Collectief (Musia Mwankumi, Abigail Gypens, Emiel Lenaert and Maria de Cort), the whole makes for a compelling narrative that is best listened to from A to Z.

HOFFMAN is the musical alter ego of Maurice Luijten. With mysterious soundscapes taken over by industrial beats, his music strikes a balance between atmospheric film soundtracks and dark raves.
